Welcome
On November 17th, 2004, Joe asked Sylvia if she would like to go out to "get a cup of coffee or something". Fortunately, the answer was "yes". So now, on June 3rd, they're getting married.

About the Happy Couple
Both Joe and Sylvia are third year PhD students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Sylvia studies Developmental Psychology and Joe studies Computer Science. They met at a swing dance lesson at the school. As for before then:
Sylvia was born in San Francisco, and shortly moved to Taiwan where she grew up. She came back to the US for college and got her BA in Applied Math-Economics from Brown University. She switched to Psychology for her graduate work. Her parents, Julia and Mike, still live in Taiwan. Her oldest sister Sherry lives in Toronto with her husband Bill. Her other older sister Sandra lives in Hong Kong with her husband Kevin and two adorable kids Evan and Erin. Sara, Sylvia's younger sister, lives in Ann Arbor with her fiance Edward.
Joseph was both born and raised in St. Louis. He also went to college there, getting his BS in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis. His parents, Anna and David, and younger siblings, Jim and Katie, still live in St. Louis, along with a slew of aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and other relatives.
